Oh, just went in my office and my speakers, plugged into the UPS also, were humming like crazy even though the computer was off. I can't confirm for certain, but after hooking this up to my Mac Pro none of the USB ports worked anymore. I can't confirm that this device is the cause, but literally 10 minutes after hooking this up to the USB port on my Early 2009 Mac Pro (and UPS monitoring appeared to work) all my USB ports stopped working. Not looking forward to returning this, or bringing my Mac Pro to the Apple Store but I guess I have to do both.
I give it five stars for looks, functionality, and intelligent design. Not only does it look real good but it seems to work well too. It looks wonderful next to my new computer. They match like they were made at the same factory.
So far there is nothing I don't like about this unit. I have not experienced any power outages or lightening strikes yet, but I know I'm protected if I do. I can't tell you how secure I feel with my brand new expensive workstation being well protected with this UPS. Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD UPS - LCD Display 1500VA/900W AVR 8-Outlet RJ11/RJ45/Coax Tower USB I live where there are lots of electrical storms. I DO recommend it for anyone who has expensive equipment they need to protect. Before I purchased my Cyberpower CP1500 UPS, I would have turned my system off and unplugged it from the wall till the storm was over - - even though I had a fairly decent surge suppressor. I had a huge project with fast approaching deadline and we were having one major storm after another. But now I feel comfortable even working through the worst storm because I know I am protected.
Has not failed me through several power outages already although I bought it just a few short weeks ago. The LCD readout is clear and sharp with lots of info screens to monitor the whole shooting match. Power in our area is unreliable and I have a saltwater fish tank, so I wanted to make sure that the pumps and heaters continue after a power outage. Found the Cyberpower CP1500AVLCD on Amazon for a decent price.Shipping was fast even though I picked standard delivery.
Plenty of time to save and shut down any game or application I might be playing or running, and shut down my PC.It only took three days after receiving it to see how well it worked in an actual situation, and just within this last week I have had four full-blown outages, all during all of these, the Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD kicked in, flawlessly and seamlessly, allowing me to safely save/end my game and shut down my PC. It showed that I had 33 minutes of backup and that was good enough for me. (What I actually did was just plug the surge protector they were all plugged into, into the Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD Unit).
I live in an area where my power blinks, has brown-outs, and full outages several times a week. I received it on time, it was packed well, and the packaging was in good condition. I have had the Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD UPS - LCD Display 1500VA/900W AVR 8-Outlet RJ11/RJ45/Coax Tower USB (Purchased on 04/25/2009) a few days short of a month.
I had it out of the box and set up within five minutes, with my PC, Monitor, Router and Modem plugged in. In my opinion it has paid for itself several times over already, and I have recommended it friends and family. It does not help that I am the only house on my line and no one else calls to complain of the problems.
I have lost two PCs due to these problems and really needed something to protect my newest purchase.I'm not really "Up" on the technical aspects, and really only bought it because it had a larger VA than the other Cyberpowers and I have a very powerful gaming PC so thought it might be best.
